MARADECA, UNCHR profile IDPs in three host towns

Internally displaced communities who temporarily settled in three municipalities of Tugaya, Watu, and Marantao were documented and profiled using KoBoCollect application, a research tool based on the OpenDataKit and is fundamentally utilized for “data collection in humanitarian emergencies and other challenging field environments.” Those profiled are not only the conflict-affected evacuees from Marawi city but also those displaced and have endured the effects of Typhoon Vinta, Typhoon Sendong, Typhoon Pablo, the armed conflict in Butig town, Lanao del Sur, and those impacted by violent rido, too. Beneficiaries in 36 brgys prioritize livelihood, needs for support

Community facilitators and staff of Maradeca Inc conducted validation and prioritization of proposed community livelihood interventions in 36 barangays of Buadipuso Buntong and Malabang, Lanao del Sur. The consultative meetings were held from April 21 to May 04, 2018 in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM). In that activities, beneficiaries prioritized three of the identified proposed livelihood projects and needs during the Community Assessment and Profiling (CAP). Parents in two towns attend child rights, protection training

Parents from remote communities in two towns of Lanao del Sur attended Child Right Protection training in separate sessions from March to April 2018. Beneficiaries are from barangays Diolangan, Salipongan, Bubong, Langi Talub of Masiu town and in barangay Moriato Datu of Lumbayanague municipality. The series of training aimed to inculcate awareness on child rights; appreciate the importance of children’s rights in relation to Family Code and Ethics; and, increase awareness on child protection policy and framework. Internally displaced children from Marawi undergo psychosocial session

Psychosocial sessions for children in evacuation centers are conducted by Save the Children and with partners in established child-friendly spaces in Lanao del Sur as part of the humanitarian mission for child rights protection. These were done in Lumbayanague, Saguiaran; Bubong, Saguiaran; Radapan Poblacion, Bubu, Piagapo; Ragayan, Marantao; and in Tacub Pendolonan, Marantao of  Lanao del Sur . The sessions gathered an average of 50 children participants per area. This is a humanitarian initiatives to ensure that children have the opportunity to narrate their experiences for emotional and psychological relief; are not discriminated in protection services; and, the intended social measures from clusters are delivered for their welfare.
