Community fora on peace and security; anti-violent extremism held

Series of fora on peace security led to the crafting of  community-based peace and security plans. These were attended by 140 multisectoral participants from barangays Salipongan and Diolangan, Bubong; Langi Talub,  Masiu; and Moriatao a Datu, Lumbayanaque. These were from peoples’ organizations like  OBAERA, OTR, Moro Youth for Peace and Development (MYPD), Conflict Transformers (CT), and Community Children Protection Team (CCPT). Youths community immersion and interfaith dialogues offer an opportunity to improve  social cohesion and contribute reduce radicalization among conflict-affected communities. The Marawi crisis, which controversially described some youths involvement in violent extremism, saw parallel imperatives for dialogues and cultural exchange to inspire acquisition of empirical knowledge that can constructively change or shift perspectives to prevent radicalization . Several workshops conducted for IDPs to deliver Marawi Response Project

MARADECA Inc. conducted several workshops for internally displaced and host communities in ten areas of Lanao del Sur from December 2018 to March 2019 to deliver the Marawi Response Project (MRP) in collaboration with Plan International-USAID. These workshops were inclusive of participatory rural appraisal, conflict assessment, needs prioritization, and validation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host community members (HCM).
