Community leaders attend conflict resolution workshop

Community leaders from eight barangays of Marawi underwent 3-day conflict resolution seminar-workshop to enhance their skills on dispute resolution at the barangay level.

The seminar was participated by ten lupong tagapamaya; five barangay peacekeeping action team; and, five religious and traditional leaders from the barangays of Bito Buadi Parba, Bito Buadi Itowa, Somiorang, Mipantao Gadongan, Timbangalan, Sugod Proper, Patani and Pugaan of Marawi city.

One of the major realization of the participants and working team in this workshop is the value of igma and taritib which embody the Maranao traditional rules and mechanisms in settling community-based conflicts including those that have escalated to violence.

The workshops were facilitated by experts from MedNet Inc. in collaboration with  Maradeca Inc. and was supported by Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace and Reconciliation and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

This was undertaken on February 2- 5, 2019 at Pugaan, Marawi.
